The English Language Center (ELC), part of the College of Liberal Arts, prepares students to use English effectively in all situations, whether they be an academic, professional, or everyday situation.
Preparing Students
The ELC has offered quality language training to international students,
scholars, and professionals for more than 30 years. Our program is
evaluated and updated frequently in an effort to give our students
the best possible English education. It is a testament to the success
of our program that our students complete their English studies and
pass their English proficiency exams, and transition into
their majors.
By combining small class instruction with the latest in instructional technology, we are able to meet the language needs of all students and give them the opportunity to interact with both teachers and students on an intimate basis. We also offer free tutoring services as well as college and university counseling and placement.
Dedicated Faculty
Our dedicated language teachers all have advanced degrees in the teaching of English as well as extensive experience with international students both at home and abroad.
The faculty and staff are committed to creating a comfortable learning environment for students, and they offer individualized instruction outside of class.
Convenient Schedules
Programs begin throughout the year, so students can start their studies when it is most convenient for them. Classes are offered during the day and night and on either a part-time or a full-time schedule. Special programs may be arranged for any length of time for groups with individual needs, and summer classes are offered at a discounted rate.
The American Experience
Our international students receive a complete orientation to American culture by participating in field trips to museums, plays, and local attractions, such as the Red Rock Conservation Area, while also getting the opportunity to interact with faculty and other native speakers in the Conversation Club.
